Best Practices for Coaches: Streamlining Participation Tracking

Save time and streamline post-game participation tracking with a custom calendar view.

Why Create a Custom View?

Student athlete participation tracking works best when it becomes part of your post-game routine. Instead of digging through the full department calendar, a custom view ensures you see only what matters: your team’s competitions. This helps you quickly mark which athletes participated while the game is still fresh in your mind.

How to Build Your Custom View

  1. Go to Calendar > Calendar View.

  2. In the left sidebar, toggle open:

    • Teams: Select only your team.

    • Event Types: Select only Competitions.

  3. Once your calendar shows only your team’s competitions, scroll back up to My Calendar Views.

  4. Click Save Current View.

  5. Name your new view something meaningful—examples include:

    • Team Competitions

    • My Participation Tracking

    • [Sport] Games

💡 Tip: If you prefer to see more games at a glance, switch the display to Month View before saving.

Making It a Habit

  • After every game, open your saved view.

  • Click into the event, go to the Participants list, and update which athletes did and did not participate.

  • Save the participation record.
  • This ensures your tracking is always accurate and eliminates the risk of forgetting details later.
